It Takes a Village to Create a Wonderland
You can see the new culinary arts lab at FCC and a preview of the students' work (and Chef Mark talking about it) in this news clip.
As we explained in a September blog post, Chef Mark from Chocolates and Tomatoes Farm has been actively collaborating since this summer with
staff at the DC Willard Hotel,
other culinary arts staff and instructors at the Hospitality, Culinary and Tourism Institute (HCTI) at Frederick Community College (with a special shout out to Chef Missy Miller),
Frederick County Public Schools CTC Architecture/CAD/Engineering students and Instructor Phil Arnold,
and Virginia Bramante, founder of Ginger's Breadboys.
Together, they have all been developing a special gingerbread display featuring historic and iconic buildings and statues along the National Mall.
Students and instructors have spent much of their free time for the last 6 months on this voluntary project to get the experience of doing it and honing their craft.
Many Thanks
To everyone who contributed time, resources, and expertise to this amazing effort. Thanks to all you readers who bought gingerbread boys or provided donations to support the effort! We hope you get a chance to come on out to see the display in person!
