Developing an Awe of Sunsets Over Water

I developed an awe for the magic of sunsets at an early age growing up in a small beach town. There, the sun setting over the water was the time for town regulars and tourists, alike, to come to the beach, pause, and watch the beauty unfold. The painting on the horizon was a little different everyday. I only have memories of these sunsets - cell phone cameras hadn't been invented yet, and since it was an everyday part of my life, I didn't think to capture it with a picture. Below are some more recent beach sunset pictures -- I love it no matter where I go.

Discovering the Beauty of Farm Sunsets

I wasn't sure that I could find the same beauty in sunsets with the sun setting over the land instead of the water. And, for many years, living in many locations I did not find the same peace and awe. That is, until we moved to Chocolates and Tomatoes Farm. When we purchased the property in late 2018, we actually did not notice the view. We had been searching for years for a property with all the right characteristics for the farming we wanted to do, the location we needed, and the price we could afford. A view from the farm was not on the list of necessities. But, WOW, we are in the Middletown Valley looking out over the hills and the Appalachian Mountains in the distance.

Here I are some of my Chocolates and Tomatoes Farm sunset pictures (captured on my phone). I take them from wherever I am on the farm, whenever a sunset moment strikes me as worth capturing as I walk around when my sweet Crema nudges me out for a walk at just the right time.
